touch grass clay

I make something with my hands as a way of getting out of my head. There's something that happens when I enter the studio—everything that's been weighing me down for the day just falls away.

Pottery has taught me that its okay to let whatever happens, happen. I often go in with an idea of what I want to make, but it rarely comes out exactly the way I planned it. That’s the beauty of clay—if it doesn’t turn out the right way the first time, you can always try again. Sometimes it’s even better than I planned, and those are the magic moments.

"Creativity is a combination of discipline and a childlike spirit."

- Robert Greene

my favorite things

When it comes to making things, I’m always aiming for functional but funky. I love bright color combinations. I love the juxtaposition of a small mug with a chunky handle. I love rounded, bubbly shapes. I love an unexpected pop of chrome.

Most of all, I love that each piece comes out completely unique (even when I’m trying to make matching set).
